A school that intends to last must keep its own record — not a marketing timeline, but an archive: dated, sourced, and honest about the difference between what is documented and what is remembered. This is that archive.
Where the Name Comes From
The school is named in honour of the founder’s late father, Anofi Aliu Akano — a clerk at the Nigerian Ports Authority whose own schooling was cut short, and who was determined that his children’s would not be. When he passed, during the year his sons were serving the nation in the NYSC, building a school became the way to honour what he believed: that education is the one gift no circumstance can take away.
The idea took shape years earlier, during Governor Babatunde Fashola’s administration in Lagos, and was carried into brick and timetable in July 2016, in the Imowonla community of Ikorodu — a place the national press would later describe as receiving “a lifeline of hope.”

November 2024
In November 2024, the school unveiled its faith-based secondary college. Among the guests was His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State — present not in office but in friendship: before the governorship, the school’s founder served as chief accountant in his company.
As reported by The Punch, the Governor announced a ₦10 million gift toward educating less-privileged students, and paid the founder a tribute an institution can be built on:
