Ten steps — the programme, your child, your family, their schooling so far, their health, their Qur’an and Arabic, the documents, a little more, the permissions we need from you, and one last read. Which school is your child applying to?

If you are not certain, choose the one closest to your child's age — the Registrar will guide you at assessment, and no application is ever refused for choosing the wrong door.

Four of our five institutions are open to application. The fifth, the Online & Distance Learning School, is newly constituted and its programme is not yet published — ask the admissions office and they will tell you the day it is.

Schooling so far

If your child has not yet attended school, write “None” in the first field and move on. Nothing here counts against an application — it tells the Registrar where to begin.

Declaring a need never disadvantages an application. It lets us prepare properly before the first day.
A yes here has never on its own refused a child a place. Not telling us, and our finding out afterwards, is the thing that causes trouble.

Fees and support — and why we ask

Sultan Hanafi Royal Schools holds back a number of bursary places every year, and the Sultan Zakariya Hanafi Foundation supports families who need help with fees. The two questions below let the Bursar consider your family for that support without you having to ask for it.

These answers are not part of the admission decision. No child is ever admitted, refused, or placed differently because of what a family earns. The answers are read by the Bursar's office alone, are never shown to teaching staff, and are never used to compare one family with another. Both questions may be left blank, and there is a “prefer not to say” option on each.

It helps the Bursar pitch a payment plan you can actually keep to.
A band, never an exact figure. We do not ask for payslips at this stage.
Choosing “yes” opens a private conversation with the Bursar. It changes nothing about your child's application.

Health and wellbeing

This is held by the school nurse and the Head of your child’s institution, and by nobody else. If you are unsure of an answer, say so — “not known” is more useful to us than a guess.

If it has never been tested, choose “not known” and the school nurse will speak with you. Please choose one, or “not known”.
If yes, the nurse will send you a short medicine form before the first day.

Qur’an, Arabic and Islamic formation

Sultan Hanafi welcomes Muslim and non-Muslim children alike, and none of this is required. It exists so that a child is placed in the right group on the first morning rather than the third week — there is no right answer, and a child who has memorised nothing is exactly as welcome as one who has memorised ten juz’.

Permissions

Three of these are required for a place; the rest are yours to give or withhold, and withholding any of them changes nothing about your child’s application or their standing in the school.
